Accomplishments
Career and Teaching Accomplishments
Many of my teaching accomplishments were in the information technology security field. These ranged from establishing special forensic labs to entire security awareness events.

2012 | IT Security Forensic Lab | (California Department of Public Health): In conjunction with the California Department of Health Services, I created and managed a digital forensic laboratory. This included isolated computer systems, forensic software, investigative procedures, physical and digital security mechanisms, and independent verification processes. Additionally, this lab serviced smaller agencies, departments, and other entities under the Department of Public Health. |
2009 | IT Security Forensic Lab | (California Office of Legislative Counsel): Working with the California Highway Patrol, Sheriffs' Office, legal counsel, and the California State Legislature, I created and managed a digital forensic laboratory. This included isolated computer systems, forensic software, investigative procedures, physical and digital security mechanisms, and independent verification processes. |
2006 | Operational Recovery and Business Continuity | (California State Controller's Office): Spearheaded the operational recovery and business continuity program. Along with department personnel from each business location and service, I started the process for creating the operational recovery plan and business continuity plan. |
2004 | IT Security Awareness Expo | (California Department of Technology): Continuing from the previous Security Awareness Fair, when California merged its two data centers, the decision was made to continue the security awareness event under a new name. Due to its popularity, the event expanded to three days and included a larger vendor expo, classroom training, international keynote speakers, and technical lectures. As the project and event manager, I established the yearly theme, created a schedule of classes, lectures, and demonstrations, interfaced with vendors and presenters, procured the venue and snacks, and met with public officials. Additionally, I gave presentations on vulnerability tracking, current state government cyber-security policies, rules, and laws, and creating a security awareness program. |
2002 | Security Awareness Fair | (California Department of Technology formerly California Health and Human Services Data Center): I created the first information technology security awareness fair for the State of California government agencies. I provided seminar and classroom style training on a variety of computer security topics such as policy writing, security incident reporting, vulnerability response, open-source software, demonstrations of hacking software, and much more. This one-day security awareness event was made possible with the help of a six-person team. My primary role included securing a venue, interfacing with vendors, arranging paid and volunteer guest speakers, organizing lectures, demonstrations, and training sessions, procuring food and drinks, and managing the event. For the following year, I added a vendor expo and extended the timeframe to two days to accomodate the increased interest from non-government agencies as well as world-wide vendors. |
Degrees, Certifications, and Awards
I have received many awards and certifications. I am most proud of my certification in information technology security and my bachelor of science degree. I am appreciative of every award, certification, and honor.
