Goals & Plans
My most important and current goal is to continue learning the Japanese language and pass the JLPT-N5 or JLPT-N4 exam. While I have been taking weekly Japanese lessons, I struggle using Japanese in my daily life because my schools require me to only speak English. Therefore, my interactions with other Japanese speakers is limited and I don't often find convenient opportunities to practice. But with some additional study and perhaps joining a study group, I can achieve a higher level of competence in Japanese to help me better understand my students, neighbors, coworkers, and others.
Another plan is to try to get a teaching credential in Japan. While this might require completing the previous goal first, I do hope to further my teaching experience and education so that I can effectively teach at any school and any grade level.
Ultimately I would like to permanently settle in the city of Hiroshima and buy a house there. I'm currently residing in Higashihiroshima which is not too far away, but I do find that I spend a lot more time in the city than in my local community. And since I want to get permanent residency, I expect that eventually I will retire and live in Japan.
